During the third weekend of July, the Blaine Title 50 team defeated CC Over 55 in the championship game at the Bend Oregon Senior Tournament. Both are Boise Teams.

Senior Games

The Idaho Senior Games Softball Tournament is scheduled for September 17,18 - The same day (17) as the Tammy South. Contact Jack Ward at the YMCA to enter (344-5501).

I have been advised by North Carolina ASA Commissioner, Tony Laws that senior softball player/administrator Bill Sellars passed away early this morning after a yearlong battle with lung cancer. Bill had put up a strong fight with the support of friends, family and wife, Carolyn. Bill had played senior softball for Thomas Engineering, Bogey's Sports Bar and Blaze in recent years and for a number of years was the SPA Tournament Director for the Burlington Tournament each year in June..
Visitation will be at 6-8pm on Thursday evening at Lowe Funeral Home on S. Church Street in Burlington and the funeral will be at 11am on Fri. morning at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. Bill will be missed by many softball friends.

Senior Softball USA founder Bob Mitchell passed away November 7, 2010. Bob founded SSUSA in 1987, and was inducted as the first member of the SSUSA Hall of Fame in 2010 and into the Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 1999.

The Kid

The kid...the new guy...it's funny being that guy even though I've been playing softball since 1979. Last spring was my first season playing in the senior leauge and what's weird....is that I did feel like a kid again! Like a kid who is inspired! Seeing these guy's in their 50's, 60's, and yes 70's playing ball, the way I remember playing as a kid, when you laughed at yourself, high fived the the guy on the other team who just hit a double, and having a beer with everyone who just wasn't ready to go home on a beautiful summer night.
